556 A

Reference 556.014. Matte black dial, Arabic numerals at 12-3-6-9 with baton indices between, date window at 3. The most overtly pilot-watch face of the line, easiest to read at a glance. From 1,190 EUR on leather, 1,540 EUR on the satin bracelet.
556 I

Reference 556.010. Glossy black dial, applied baton indices, date window at 3. The "I" stands for Indizes. Cleaner and dressier than the 556 A while keeping the date. From 1,190 EUR.
556 I RS

Reference 556.0106. Same dial as the 556 I but with a red seconds hand ("RS" for Rot-Sekunde). Small change, surprisingly different feel on the wrist. From 1,190 EUR.
556 I B

Reference 556.0104. Galvanic blue dial with sunburst (Sonnenschliff) finish, applied rhodinised diamond-cut baton indices, no date. The "B" stands for Blau. Shifts from deep navy to bright cobalt depending on the light. The only variant in the core line without a date. 1,350 EUR.
Context
The 556 sits below the 856 (40mm, Tegimented, soft-iron core) and the 836 (37mm pilot field watch). No proprietary Sinn technologies here, just a well-built everyday watch with a standout dial range. At 38.5mm and 11mm thick it wears smaller than most current tool watches, useful as a dress-sport crossover.
Compared to the 856 S UTC (40mm, Tegiment, magnetic shielding), the 556 is smaller, lighter, and dressier. The 20 bar water resistance and low-pressure rating are unusual at this price and size, the watch is genuinely usable in water rather than splash-proof only.
A previous 556 I S with mother-of-pearl dial has been discontinued.
