Overview

The Khaki Field Auto is Hamilton's benchmark field watch, descended directly from the military watches the brand supplied during WWI and WWII. The H70605140 variant pairs a navy blue sunray dial with a snailing texture on the hour ring, giving the dial depth and light play that goes beyond the typical matte field watch look.

The H-10 caliber is the real story here. Based on the ETA C07.611, it delivers an 80-hour power reserve - enough to leave the watch off-wrist for an entire weekend and still pick it up running on Monday. The Nivachron balance spring adds anti-magnetic resistance, which matters for daily wear around phones and laptops.

At 42mm x 11mm, it wears like a proper tool watch without being a brick. The open case back is a nice touch at this price point - the H-10 has snail and pearled finishing worth looking at.

Also available

The Khaki Field Auto 42mm comes in several dial variants (black, green, silver) and on leather or NATO straps. The 38mm version (Khaki Field Auto 38mm) uses the same H-10 movement for those who prefer a smaller diameter.

Why it's interesting

Hamilton sits in a unique position: Swiss-made, Swatch Group movement supply, and priced under 1,000 EUR/GBP. The 80-hour power reserve, sapphire crystal, and exhibition case back are features you'd expect at 2x the price from other Swiss brands. The Khaki Field is often cited as the best value field watch on the market, and this blue dial on steel bracelet version is one of the more refined configurations.
