Semantic satiation

Semantic satiation occurs when a word is repeated so many times that it temporarily loses its meaning and sounds like a meaningless sound. The effect is believed to occur because the repetition of the word causes the brain's neurons to fire repeatedly, which leads to a decrease in their sensitivity to the word's meaning over time.
