An ultrasonic cleaner ("Ultraschallreiniger" in German) uses high-frequency sound waves (usually 35–45 kHz) transmitted through a liquid to create microscopic bubbles that rapidly collapse — a process called cavitation.
These tiny implosions dislodge dirt, oil, and debris from surfaces, even in hard-to-reach areas, making it ideal for cleaning eyeglasses, jewelry, and precision instruments.
