Munich

Jeans, chinos and casual wear

• What for: jeans and chinos to measure from €440, made in about 3 weeks. Classic 5-pocket jeans in many washes and colours, plus heavy cotton and winter cotton for chinos. Also shirts, classic or fully hand-sewn, and suits.

• What for: jeans to measure from €299, including Japanese selvedge denim from Kuroki and Japan Blue. Also shirts from €99, trousers from €209, Janker from €649 and coats from €699, all made in Europe.

ATELIER Masters Kingdom

• What for: made-to-measure menswear, with jeans to measure in your choice of fit, model and wash.
• Opening hours: Monday to Saturday 10:00 to 20:00, by appointment.

KUHN Maßkonfektion

• Address: Schäfflerstraße 6, 80333 München, near Marienplatz.
• What for: shirts, chinos and trousers, coats, jackets and golf trousers to measure, for men and women. Made only in Europe, to order.
• Opening hours: Monday to Friday 10:00 to 19:00, Saturday 10:00 to 16:00.

Luxire

• Address: Taunusstraße 45, 80807 München, in Milbertshofen.
• What for: the cheapest way in. The first pair of made-to-measure trousers and shirt costs €99, ready in 5 days. Trousers from €79, shirts from €49 and polos from €69, the nearest thing to a T-shirt on this list.

Reiser Manufaktur

• Address: Liebigstraße 39, 80538 München, in Lehel.
• What for: bespoke shirts, made in Munich since 1953. One of the last traditional outfitters of its kind in Germany.

Masshemden Hirtl

• Address: Hiltenspergerstraße 36, 80796 München, on the corner of Hohenzollernstraße in Schwabing.
• What for: hand-sewn shirts, blouses and Tracht, in cotton, linen or silk. Family-owned for over 50 years.
• Opening hours: Monday to Friday 11:00 to 13:30 and 14:30 to 18:00.

North of Munich

Schneiderei Dinges, Dachau

• Address: Kopernikusstraße 2, 85221 Dachau, inside the Rewe shopping centre, with free parking. A 2nd shop is at Fritz-Meyer-Weg 55, 81925 München.
• What for: Dirndl, leather and Tracht to measure, made-to-measure clothing, embroidery and alterations of all kinds, by trained tailors.
• Opening hours (Dachau): Monday to Friday 09:00 to 19:00, Saturday 09:00 to 16:00.

Nähzauber, Dachau

• Address: Konrad-Adenauer-Straße 46, 85221 Dachau
• What for: made to measure for men and women from your own design and fabric, so a good place to copy a favourite T-shirt or shirt. Also repairs and sewing courses.
• Opening hours: Tuesday to Friday 12:00 to 18:00, Saturday 09:00 to 16:00.

Durmaz Tailoring, Freising

• Address: Am Wörth 2, 85354 Freising, in the old town.
• What for: a family-run tailoring shop, listed as a repair partner of Repair Rebels. Good for alterations and repairs near home. Ask before you count on made to measure.

London

Suits: Savile Row

Anderson & Sheppard

• Address: 32 Old Burlington Street, London W1S 3AT, just off Savile Row.
• What for: true bespoke suits since 1906. No ready-to-wear or made to measure at this address. Its Haberdashery opened in 2011 on Clifford Street, around the corner.
• Opening hours: Monday to Friday 08:30 to 17:00.

Henry Poole & Co

• Address: 15 Savile Row, London W1S 3PJ
• What for: bespoke suits, each hand-made by a master craftsman at 15 Savile Row to your own pattern, with over 6,000 cloths in store. Henry Poole also holds trunk shows in Europe, so a fitting may come to you.

Huntsman

• Address: 11 Savile Row, London W1S
• What for: bespoke tailoring since 1849.

Cad & The Dandy

• Address: 7/8 Savile Row, first floor, London W1S 3PE
• What for: Savile Row tailoring, with a sister company in Stockholm (Götrich) and visiting dates in Zurich.
• Opening hours: Monday to Friday 10:00 to 18:00.

Turnbull & Asser

• Addresses: bespoke shirts at 23 Bury Street, London SW1Y 6AL. The flagship store is at 71-72 Jermyn Street, London SW1Y 6PF.
• What for: bespoke shirts from over 1,000 fabrics, no appointment needed. Royal Warrant holder.

Emma Willis

• What for: shirtmaker, made in England, with an atelier in Gloucester.

Budd Shirtmakers

• Address: 3 Piccadilly Arcade, London SW1Y 6NH, off Jermyn Street.
• What for: made-to-measure shirts from £375, delivered in 8 weeks. The minimum order is 1 shirt.

Jeans

Blackhorse Lane Ateliers

• Addresses: 96 Berwick Street, London W1F 0PH (Monday to Saturday 11:00 to 19:00, Sunday 12:00 to 18:00), and Unit 32, Lower Stable Street, Coal Drops Yard, London N1C 4DQ, at King's Cross. The jeans are made at the factory, 114b Blackhorse Lane, London E17 6AA.
• What for: London's own jeans maker. Made-to-measure jeans from £695, jackets from £875, in person only, 6 to 8 weeks from the 1st fitting. Your pattern is archived, so later pairs are faster. Ready-to-wear selvedge jeans in both shops.

Online: made-to-measure T-shirts

I found no shop in either city that makes T-shirts to measure. Son of a Tailor does it online: you enter your measurements, and each T-shirt is made to order.
