Why use Slack

History of channels is archived so it’s easy to find things, and new joiners will be able to access all history too
(though only last 30 days in free version, but we can upgrade later if needed. The free version is plenty)

Best practices

• create channels per topic to keep things neat
• within channels, best practice is to reply in threads when replying to a Slack, if it is not right above the answer (or to keep it as a thread)
• maximise use of public open channels and just DM for personal stuff
